FLD05_Electric Mine Train

Recently, I visited Grube Wohlverwahrt in my old hometown of Kleinenbremen Germany to capture impulse responses in this century-old mineshaft for a larger library I am working on. A welcome byproduct of this amazingly fun field recording outing were these immersive recordings of the charismatic and somewhat unsettling rumble of the old electric mine train that took us down the shaft.

I captured two 4.5 minute train rides as well as the train shunting back into parking position in the versatile Ambisonics B-Format, allowing you to convert these recordings into almost any format from Stereo to 7.1.4 surround. These recordings are great stand-ins for freight train cars, freight elevators, old subway trains or other rumbly, rugged means of underground transport.

No processing has been applied to make these recordings as flexible as possible.
